- Prefer LONASE / LONASE-authorised digital products over unlicensed offshore apps.
- Age gate and KYC on the official product matter more than bonus banners.

How sports betting works when the state lottery (LONASE) sits at the centre of the legal market — and why “takes Orange Money” is not the same as “LONASE-authorised.”

Dakar Saturdays still run on Premier League and national-team nights. The difference versus a multi-licence West African market is structural: lottery and sports betting are organised around the state operator LONASE, which has pushed digital products (including the LPbet online sports-betting platform reported in 2025–2026 coverage) to compete with offshore brands while keeping revenue in-country. Residents should start with what LONASE authorises, not with a random Instagram tipster link.
Senegal is majority-Muslim but maintains a state-authorised lottery/sports-betting framework — the ASB label is Licensed/Regulated, not Illegal. Foundational lottery framework centres LONASE for lottery and sports betting. Loi n° 1987/43 of 23 December 1987 authorised the creation of a national company, the Loterie Nationale Sénégalaise (LONASE). LONASE, which holds the monopoly under that law, has published a list of 17 online platforms authorised to operate in Senegal; it calls any other platform clandestine. Brands that “serve Senegal” but are not on that list are not Licensed pins. Tax on winnings / operator levies: Not confirmed — check the regulator; this page is not tax advice.

Football is the default slip — Premier League, Champions League, and Senegal’s national team. Local Ligue 1 interest rises when broadcast is easy. Basketball is secondary. Virtuals may appear next to sports products — describe, don’t push.
Currency is XOF. CFA on a lawful LONASE product — not on a random flag skin. Crypto-only offshore pages are a red flag for this market’s Licensed framing.
Everyday rails in Senegal.
Works for larger tickets; name-match KYC matters.
Physical lottery/betting points remain part of how many people first meet regulated play. Keep receipts; avoid unbranded “I can load it.”
18+ only. Use limits and self-exclusion on the official / authorised product. Prefer LONASE complaints paths over recovery scams. LONASE’s jeu responsable page names CEPIAD, Dalal Xel, and Hôpital psychiatrique de Dakar as help contacts.
Yes, under the state-centred LONASE framework for lottery/sports betting. That is not the same as “every offshore book is fine.”
Payment rail is not LONASE authorisation. Check LONASE’s published list of authorised platforms.
Labels follow resident legal access, not religious demographics. Senegal authorises state lottery/betting; other Islamic-majority markets on this map are Illegal stubs when private betting is broadly prohibited.
Those brands are real in other African countries. Neither is on LONASE’s published list. Do not borrow another country’s login.
