Licensed/Regulated
The Gambling Regulatory Authority Act 2007, section 44(1), says no person shall operate fixed odds betting unless he holds the appropriate bookmaker licence. Section 44(5) says the Board may issue a bookmaker licence for fixed odds bet on sporting events taking place outside Mauritius, through remote communication at a place the Board approves, and that the licensee may, with the Board’s approval, operate not more than 20 outlets. Section 45 says no such betting shall be conducted except for the sporting events referred to in the bookmaker’s rules of fixed odds bet approved by the Board. Section 140(3) says a bookmaker who accepts or offers to accept a bet from a minor commits an offence. A published list of licensees is not confirmed — check the regulator.
