What is legal here
Sports betting is legal for adults 18 and over when the operator holds a current Gaming Commission of Ghana sports-betting (or online sports betting) licence under the Gaming Act framework. The Gaming Commission publishes the Gaming Act, 2006 (Act 721) on gamingcommission.gov.gh. Ghana is one of the clearer West African markets to check: the Commission publishes a licensed-operators table with trade name, operation type, dates, and location. For calendar 2026, familiar African brands appear on the sports-betting / online sports-betting rows. Dates and rows change. Use the Commission page. Online and land-based products can be licensed separately — a Sports Betting row is not automatically an Online Casino waiver.

Can I use my Nigerian SportyBet account in Accra?+
Do not assume it. These groups often run country sites with country licences and country wallets. A naira account is not a cedi licence.
What is the legal age?+
18. Shops should ask. Apps should block. If a place will take a 16-year-old’s MoMo, that is a problem with the place, not a loophole.
Are there taxes on winnings?+
Operator taxes and consumer withholding get mashed in conversation. Check current Ghana Revenue Authority guidance or an accountant if the amount is large. Do not confuse Ghana’s GRA with Kenya’s Gambling Regulatory Authority. We will not invent a percentage.
