Sports Betting in Botswana
The Gambling Act, 2012, section 81, says a person shall not carry on the business of a bookmaker without a bookmaker’s licence. Section 82 says a bookmaker’s licence shall authorise the accepting of fixed bets on sporting events, on the licensed premises concerned. Section 104 defines a minor, for that Part, as a person under the age of 21 years. Section 108 says a minor shall not enter a designated gambling area, operate a gambling machine, conduct or make available a gambling activity, or engage in social gambling, and that a person shall not gamble with a minor. A published licence number is not confirmed — check the regulator.
